The Last Christian

The Last Christian: A Novel

Vertical Reach = 4

Abby doesn't give thorough details about what she prays or what passages she reads in her bible but I love that she acknowledges doing them at all. Lotsa CBA christian fiction doesn't even elude to this I liked this character so much she was real to me.

Ministry Message = 3
The message I believe is to have faith in God and spread his word no matter what. I hope I didn't miss it the storyline held me so captive I didn't really grab a lot of message.

Craft = 5
I love good plot and great characters. This novel has both not to mention it has captivating details and dialogue. This is the only end time novel I believe I've ever enjoyed.

Aesthetics = 5
If I saw this book in a book store the title and cover alone would make me stop and pick it up. Good job Waterbook Press design team. LOVE IT!

Tithing Douglas LeBlanc

Tithing: Test Me in This (The Ancient Practices Series)
Vertical Reach = 2

The nature of this books layout left little room to discuss the author's personal relationship with God.

Ministry Message = 3
When you give to God He takes care of you.

Craft = 3

This book has a solid command of the craft and is written in a journalistic format and style. It took me quite some time to read this book because it really didn't hold my attention or deliver the in depth information about tithing I expected.

Aesthtics =2

I have to be honest, I just didn't get this cover.

Dollar$ & $ense = 2.5

I was a bit disappointed by this book. I am still looking for answers about tithing and I didn't find it in this book.

Sistergirl Devotions

Sistergirl Devotions: Keeping Jesus in the Mix on the Job

Vertical Reach = 4

Ms. Mackey begins this story sharing about her love for her mother and her relationship with God. Each devotion give a sneak peek into how she reached up and He reached down to help her along her career journey.

Ministry Message = 5

You can take your faith to work with you. I've heard this taught, preached and read other books on the matter and believe Ms. Mackey has written this devotional in a way especially suited for her readers.

Craft = 5

The subject matter was organized well, the voice is friendly, encouraging and inviting and the scriptures are well matched.

Cover = 4
Great color scheme, well picked model and inviting. If I saw this book in a bookstore I would stop and pick it up if not for me to give to a friend.

Dollar$ & $ense = 4.5

For women ministries and career ministries and workplace book clubs this is a great read and selection to get you recharged and keep you focused day after day as an employee and entrepreneur.

It Had to Be You

It Had to Be You (Weddings by Bella, Book 3)

Vertical Reach = 4

Bella ends this trilogy closer than she began and expressing her awe and love for him as eloquent and lovely as ever.

Ministry Message = 3

Love conquers all especially when we submit to God's timing. A great message supported throughout the three novels for this series.

Craft = 4

Thompson is a consummate professional and writes so well she offers courses online for writers to grow in their craft.

Aesthetics = 5

Not only did this book deliver as Revell covers are known to do, but they kept the consistency with the cover models and really are eye catching for readers. I'd stop to pick this book up in the store because I love the cover.

Dollar$ & $ense review = 4

From cover to cover and page to page Thompson delivers a colorful read that will entertain the average and avid readers alike.

Indivisible

Indivisible: A Novel

Vertical Reach = 3

Several of the characters have relationships and awareness of God but don't share the very private moments they share with Him.

Ministry Message = 3

There were a lot of messages aka lessons embedded in the story. The running theme for this book is when working together people can achieve great things.

Craft = 5

It was nice to see such literary like description and writing in a contemporary genre. Some of the scenes read like the thousand page novels of old but with faster pacing. It was a nice change from today's popular novels.

Aesthetics = 3

This cover is in fitting with the genre of the book. I liked the contrast of the colors but didn't find anything super spectacular about it.

Dollar$ & $ense = 3.5

A great read for the traditional romance and suspense reader. I think it would be a great read for every romantic suspense reader who likes the picture to be painted well with an old school literary flair.

Radical

Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream

Vertical Reach = 4

Pastor Platt gives at least one personal reference  per chapter or section about his walk with Christ to show how he has examined himself to live as he believes God desires.

Ministry Message = 4

The message is not a new concept but it is presented in a way many Christian Americans coming off of the prosperity movement of the nineties and early part of 2000's. As someone who never subscribed to it I found it interesting but not new.

Craft = 3

It is written to include everyone who claims to be a believer. For those who have been living beyond a material place it may not be as "radical" a concept. It is well written but the inclusive and switching POV are a bit distracting on some parts.

Aesthetics = 3

It's bright and colorful. For the primary audience it may be eye catching for me it was okay. I like it for the purpose it was created.

Dollar$ & $ense = 3.5

A great read especially for pastors who believe their congregation has lost its focus on the call for evangelism from Christ.

360 Degree Life

360-Degree Life: Ten Ways You Can Live More Richly, Deeply, Fully

Vertical Reach = 4

I had never heard of Bill Daugherty before reading this book. I found his transparency refreshing and interesting. I think it would have been nice to learn more about him before he went to glory. I'm glad he God commissioned him to write this before He called the author home.

Ministry Message = 4

To live life to the fullest, you have to look at it from all degrees. I love that message. I donate most of the books I receive for reviews, but this message is one that should be kept for reference.

Craft = 4

Bill Daugherty was a pastor and multi published author. His gift and skill shine through well in the way he compiles and lays out the message in this book.

Aesthetics = 4
I believe this book would appeal to its target demographic. Having never heard of Bill Daugherty I would not have picked the book up based on the cover. The internal layout is well set and I enjoyed the change in format and color for the inserts.

Dollar$ & $ense = 4

For someone looking for the missing link to living a full life based on God's word and someone who has lived through many things, this book is a great resource.

The publisher provided this link to read the first chapter.
