A Distant Melody

Distant Melody, A: A Novel (Wings of Glory)Distant Melody, A: A Novel (Wings of Glory)

There is talk about the relationship with God but not a lot of the intricacies shown during the book. While I believe the characters were religious I wasn't sure about the tenets of the relationship. I was interested in learning more about the details of the main characters relationships with God.

Ministry Message = 3

True love, prayer and truth are displayed well I would have liked a clearer message. As a romance it offers the perfect formula.

Craft = 3

A solid cast of characters, good description and dialogue based on the era.

Aesthetics = 4

The cover is absolutely very appropriate love how well it matches the description and feel of the book.

For those who love historical and wartime romances and Christian fiction you will be pleased if you decide to pick up this story.

Start Here: Doing Hard Things Right Where You Are

Vertical Reach =4

Alex and Brett are young, energetic and on fire with a love and passion to serve the Lord. I absolutely adore the way they share the faith and love for Christ and their generation so honestly.

Ministry Message = 3

It is an awesome concept and I wish I'd read the initial book before this one, I'd recommend it to teenagers on the fence about living a life outside of the "teenage apathy" box. For teens who are of a similar mindset of the twins before reading the book who want to plot a game plan it is a bit elementary.

Craft = 4

Solid writing, awesome voice and conversational tone. Overall in general a well written, engaging body of work.

Aesthetics = 3

This cover is plain but appeals to the grunge and blunt style in addition to bold colors favored by the age of readers for whom the book is written.

Dollar$ and $ense = 3.5

Overall in general this is a great ministry tool and group read for teens straddling the fence on how to utilize and fully use their youth instead of wasting it away in frolic and play. I am a bit concerned about the lack of advising the "rebelutionaries" to have balance. Even Jesus took a break to pray and rest.

Mother Daughter Duet

Mother-Daughter Duet: Getting to the Relationship You Want with Your Adult Daughter

Vertical Reach = 4
Cheri Fuller and Ali Plum open the windows into their need for and dependence on God as an integral part of their lives.

Ministry Message = 3
Nothing new or groundbreaking with the message of love, understanding and respect as the cornerstone for a good relationship between parent and style but a fresh approach by sharing the dynamics of a relationship from the mother and daughters perspective.

Craft = 4
Fuller and Plum are both writers and well familiar with the mechanics of writing. A solid job of research, scripture and inviting tone throughout the work.

Aesthetics = 3

Nice colors, crisp photo not something I'd stop for in a book store but still nice albeit a bit plain.

Dollar$ and $ense - 3.5
If you're looking for practical and spiritual guidelines to a solid relationship with your adult daughter this book is a good fit.

Feeling overwhelmed and stressed is normal but living life full of grace and joy can be achieved especially through a relationship with God.

I love the way this nonfiction book reads like fiction. It is less instructional and more conversational which made it an easy win.

This cover is beautiful, rustic and sets the tone for the target reader.

I enjoyed the nuggets and wisdom shared in this book it will bless any woman who picks it up and struggles with claiming and holding on to the joy God promises His children.
