Jenna's Cowboy

Jenna's Cowboy: A Novel (The Callahans of Texas)

Vertical Reach = 3

Jenna's relationship is referred to in the book while not overpowering or too detailed. It is shown to be a part of her life but the intimacy of how she engages in her relationship with the Lord.

Ministry Message = 4

Healing and hope are not impossible for God. Nothing is impossible for God. Taken right from the good book and today's experiences for soldiers coming back after serving in Iraq and Afghanistan the focus on the need to minister to the after effects of serving our country. KUDOS to the author for bringing the need for the Body of Christ to recognize and offer an answer to this problem.

Craft = 3

The characters hold your attention, and are believable. The plot follows the romance formula so romance readers will not be disappointed. Description, style and voice are done well.

Aesthetics = 4

Revell has aimed to please again. The only way this cover could have been better would be to bring in a shadowed uniformed soldier clad version of the cowboy behind his stetson donned image. Just a thought. We'll see if anyone can take Revell's coveted favorite covers title from me this year.

This is Your Brain in Love

This is Your Brain in Love

Vertical Reach = 4

Dr. Earl loves God and it is very apparent as he shares the different ways He explores the mechanics of the brain. My first impression of the book was that I would be bored out of my mind but found it inspiring the way He related the workings of the brain in with how we love and relate to others including God's role in it all.

I want to go have my head looked at. I believe every married and engaged couple should read this book. There are lots of practival and spiritual lessons that made me wanna be a better wife and present my best self mentally in my relationship with God, my hubby and children and everyone else. There is hope when you know how your computer boots up. I love this book, I'm biased as someone who wants to complete a degree in psychology. Whether you love psychology or not anyone looking to understand how to love better should check out this book. Again a great gift to give for valentines Day is the best mental you.

Craft = 4

I love the way the clinical methodology and facts are presented in a way that draws the reader in through research and scripture. Research and life experience translated into well developed theme and descriptive application backdrop.

Aesthetics = 4

The cover is cute and if I had extra time in a bookstore I'd pick it up but it doesn't just scream....pick me up Shawneda I'll help you be a better mate. The wrapping would have to come up a notch to match the message but it is still appealing, crisp, clean and more than appropriate.

50 Great Ways to Feel Great Today

50 Ways to Feel Great Today: Keys to Beating Stress, Worry, and the Blues

Vertical Reach = 3
Biebel and the Dill's talk about their relationships with God enough to relate to readers but leave no great awe inspiring revelations. The inclusion of referring to their personal walk with God is solid, not over powering or over bearing simply there.

Ministry Message = 4
The message is uou can feel great by trying at least one of these things and it's true.  While some of the suggestions seem apparent the research and stories bring the chapters to life and inspire you to try something new.

Craft= 3
The clinical and basic grammatical techniques are executed at a level of efficiency. The description and ability to keep the reader captivated by the prose leaves a bit to be desired. For readers who enjoy fact over story thematic nonfiction this is great. For readers who want more personality than research it will be a harder read.

Aesthetics = 4

It's bright captive and refreshing. I must admit as a lover of Granny smith apples it make me feel refreshed just looking at it.

Dollar$ and $ense = 3.5 Great buy for you.

Surviving One Bad Year

Surviving One Bad Year: 7 Spiritual Strategies to Lead You to a New Beginning

Vertical Reach = 5

Nancie Carmichael is very transparent and real with how she leans on, relies and defers to God throughout her bad year. She is personable, vulnerable and real in how her relationship with God helps build her up in a time when life feels like it will tear you down.

Ministry Message = 5

You can make it through. You can do it. Let go and let God. Your in the pew on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and whenever else you can make it but when you return home life is still hard and still shaping up to look like a bad year. Surviving it is more than cliche's and poems Ms. Carmichael gives you the how that we sometimes are not sure about as we allow God to lead us through the storm,

Craft = 4

Carmichael offers solid points. A great mixture of testimony, practical application and spiritual resource. As a seasoned author she delivers an expected professionalism and structure to the books content. Kudos!

Aesthetics = 3

Overall = 4 Get one and bless a friend.

If I walked by this book in a store or saw the pic online I would not be moved to stop. While I understand the metaphor I'd think winter a better season to represents hard times and the color while calming just doesn't pop. It's a good cover but it could've been better. Just one girls opinion!

Watch an interview with the author Faithful Folios home screen. Have a god kissed day.
